STEM HS PHYSICS CLASSES 2020 Fall Rube Goldberg Challenge®
Rube Goldberg was an engineer by training who was known for his cartoons depicting outrageous engineering efforts to complete a simple task. All physics students across Akron Public Schools participated in a district wide challenge to create, film their own Rube Goldberg machine, and receive a chance to showcase their own creativity and STEM skills to win great prizes. A panel of scientists and engineers selected the winners according to scoring criteria.
Coach Bill "Hecalf" Metcalf had two classes of juniors and seniors taking physics, remotely, this year. This is the FIRST time that APS students have participated in such a challenge and STEM HS placed in 3 of the top 10 spots, with Kynan Davis, Class of 2022, placing 2nd overall!
Congratulations to the following STEM HS Physics Students!
-
Kynan Davis, 2nd place
-
Issac Gifford, 4th place
