I find that in schools we often focus on achievements in science that take place in Europe or America. 

 

This can lead students to believe that these are the only places that science happens, as well as leading them to think that all scientists are white men. 

 

In order to expand their views to a more global understanding of science I asked them to research a scientist that was not born in Europe or the U.S.A.. These slideshows demonstrate some of the important work in science, done outside our normal areas of study, that our students discovered in their research.
